We highly recommend to book in advance Champagne cellars tours. As it is underground there is a limit to number of persons that can attend these guided tours. Also some Champagne tours are closed for week end. Some brands, like Taitinger, aren’t taking bookings at all but welcome all day long.
Champagne cellars tours are paying, prices going from 9 to 26 in 2010. Often it is composed of a slide show, a guided tour of cellars or winery and tour ends with a commented Champagne tasting. There is often multiple options: duration of visit, extra cups of Champagne, taste an old millesim.
If you are fond of vine and Champagne in particular, then you have to meet local independant Champagne producers. These persons are really working in vineyards and perfectly know their vine. It is a very different approach, more personal than beeing welcomed by an employee of one of the major Champagne brand.
Explore the ‘Champagne route’ , you will make nice meetings from ‘la côte des blancs’ down to ‘la côte des Bar’.
Guest house ‘Les Telliers’ especially recommends these visits:
Vranken Pommery Champagne cellars and estate
Champagne Martel cellars and ‘museum‘
Veuve Clicquot Champagne cellars
Champagne Mumm Champagne cellars
